9 States. Multiple cities. So many book events. What a year it's been!
What an amazing year of traveling, connecting with friends, family, parents, athletes, and administrators.
🎉 One year ago today, "Raising Empowered Athletes" hit the shelves, and what a journey it has been! 📚✨ To everyone who has embraced its message and helped shape the next generation of confident, resilient athletes—thank you! 🙌 Let's keep inspiring our young stars to not just excel in sports but to thrive in life. Here’s to empowerment, growth, and a brighter future for all our athletes! 🌟 #RaisingEmpoweredAthletes #BookAnniversary #InspireGrowth
I always like to go back and see how far we’ve come! So here is where I was in October. And, so grateful to live in today 🙏
Thank YOU!

“I read this book in two days. It is EXACTLY what I need as a parent of two young athletes and what my students and parents need at my high school. Everyone should buy and read this book. NOW!!”
- Khalid Maxie, Principal, Jesuit High School, Portland Oregon
“Raising Empowered Athletes has such an important message for all in these chaotic times. I love your message. It’s just so good and positive for parents, coaches and kids to hear.”

If you have FOMO, here’s a recap of my last few weeks. 🫶🫶🫶
🌟First stop was October 8th in Missoula, MT. I was hosted by the wonderful Kathy Ogren and joined by my mom, Mary Ann Schimke, in the town I was raised in. Former Sentinel HS teammate and basketball legend coach & player, Karen Deden, joined me in conversation, and I was so happy to be back home in Missoula.
Listen to my interview on the local ESPN sports station.
🌟Next stop was Zibby’s Bookshop in Santa Monica, CA with my dear friend and fellow entrepreneur, Dr. Dolly Klock, AdolessonsLA. Dolly and I have collaborated many times and thanks to her mighty tribe, we always get a great turnout!
Check out our conversation here.
🌟I then flew to New York City to meet my friend and teammate, Tanya Mitchell, and was interviewed by Tina Cervasio, on FOX5 News. It was such a fun experience, and our full conversation will be featured on Sunday SportsXtra (I will be sure to share once I get the link!)
🌟We then drove through NJ, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia to my alma mater, William and Mary, for my 30th (wha wha?) college reunion and Homecoming weekend.
William and Mary Athletics hosted an event for their parents and athletes and donors, and I couldn't have been prouder to be the keynote speaker, joined by my coach and one of the godmothers of collegiate volleyball, Debbie Hill, on the stage at this Women in Athletics event. 💚💛
There was such a great turnout for the Tribe volleyball alumni weekend.
And I was thrilled to be asked to give the pre-game pep talk to the women’s field hockey team before they played the number one seed in their conference. They got the “W”, winning 4-3 and clinched a playoff spot! SO fun!
🌟 The final leg of my journey was to head back West to my corporate beginnings, at NIKE in Oregon.
First, I went back to the mothership (wow, look at you now!), NIKE Headquarters in Beaverton, OR, and spoke to the Global Footwear Innovation Team and NIKE Families group, which was streamed globally.
Next up, I met with three local Portland high schools (Jesuit High School, St. Mary’s Academy and Valley Catholic High School) who co-hosted a book signing and event. Lucky me, I was joined in conversation with one of my fav’s, Michelle Bain Brink, a former Division 1 basketball player, Nike co-worker, friend, wife and mother of two great humans; Cy, who works at the White House (yes, that one) and Cameron who is starting her senior basketball campaign at Stanford. The Brinks are good friends with the Currys (yup, also those ones). I always learn something when I speak to Michelle (and Greg) about raising empowered athletes.
PHEW! What a couple of weeks!!!!
FYI -On Monday, I will be reposting my #RaisingAthletes podcast conversation with Michelle and Greg Brink, parents of Stanford Women’s Basketball Star, Cameron Brink.
If you made it this far, join me in Orange County on Saturday!!!
Let's do this!

P.S. Books are available to purchase at every event, but it helps for planning if you RSVP. If you have a book already, bring it and buy a copy for a coach, athlete, administrator or friend :)
I am happy to sign any books but please pay it forward and gift a copy for a friend - that helps us all! Holidays are coming, get ahead of it!
