Episode 59: Creating a Competitive Advantage with Sleep, Author Lisa L. Lewis

Lisa L Lewis joins Kirsten and Susie on the podcast to talk about the groundbreaking work and the role she played in getting California's landmark law on healthier school start times passed. Lewis has written for The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Atlantic and The Los Angeles Time, among others. Lisa came on to talk about how sleep impacts everything we do, in particular for the adolescent brain, where the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed yet. As the kids hit the teen years their sleep patterns change and kids not getting enough Zzzz's affect not only school work and athletic performance, but also is a huge factor in limiting risks around mental health including lowering anxiety and depression.

We highly recommend her book, The Sleep Deprived Teen. Get a copy wherever books are sold!
