Leading with Impact: Dr. Tommy Floyd and the Power of Archery | EP 146

Dr. Tommy Floyd shares how the National Archery in the Schools Program has transformed student engagement, teacher-student relationships, and academic motivation since he first got involved as a high

In this episode, Kirsten sit's down with Dr. Tommy Floyd, President of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), to hear the inspiring story behind his journey from high school principal to national leader of one of the most impactful youth programs in the country.

Dr. Floyd first got involved with NASP in 2003 while serving as a principal and coach at Somerset High School in Kentucky. Several of the first NASP state champions came from his team—but beyond the trophies, he saw something much deeper: stronger teacher-student relationships, renewed academic motivation, and a surge in school engagement from students who had never felt connected before.

With over 30 years in public education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, Dr. Floyd brings a wealth of knowledge, heart, and vision to his role. Now serving as only the second president in NASP’s history, he continues to champion the life-changing benefits of archery for students across the country.

Join us as Dr. Floyd shares how NASP is changing lives, what leadership means to him, and how his passions for faith, family, and the outdoors keep him grounded.
